There are over 2000 varieties of peaches in the world, they originate from the region of Northwest China, but today can be found in many parts of the world. Like the plum and the apricot, the Peach is a member of the Rose family (Rosaceae), distinguished by its velvety skin. It is classified as a drupe (like the Pecan), a fruit with a hard stone. Peach and nectarines are the same species, even though they are regarded commercially as different fruits.
These Peaches are halved, pips removed, sundried and then imported over from South Africa
